Daiichi Sankyo Contributes to Relief Efforts
for Haitian Earthquake Victims

Tokyo, January 19, 2010 - Daiichi Sankyo Company, Limited (hereafter; Daiichi Sankyo) has announced that it will donate ¥5 million Japanese yen (approximately $54,000 US dollars) through the Japanese Red Cross to assist victims of the January 12th Haitian earthquake.

Furthermore, Daiichi Sankyo, Inc. (headquarters, New Jersey, USA), the US subsidiary of Daiichi Sankyo, will make a donation of $50,000 US dollars to the American Red Cross, while Luitpold Pharmaceuticals, Inc., another US subsidiary of Daiichi Sankyo, will donate pharmaceutical products worth approximately $1.6 million US dollars in support of Haitian relief efforts. At present, the total amount of aid to be donated from the Daiichi Sankyo group has reached ¥153.5 million Japanese yen (approximately $1.7 million US dollars). Additionally, both Daiichi Sankyo and Daiichi Sankyo, Inc. will implement Matching Gifts programs for employee donations.


The Daiichi Sankyo group offers its deepest sympathy to those affected by this disaster and sincerely hopes that, with the support of private and public organizations from all over the world, Haiti will be able to begin its rebuilding and healing process as soon as possible.
